Introduction
ISPs are know to block or barred email domain for sending non-existing mails to their account holders repeatedly, because spammers often uses software to bulk generate email addresses for spamming. It is recommended to delete mails from your database after being bounced 4 to 6 times. 4 to 6 times? A bounced does not necessarily means that they are invalid--due to various reason like; inappropriate message header, busy mail servers, filtering devices that stimulate a "Hard bounced", auto responder, mailbox full or busy, server timeouts, concurrent connection limits, etc. If you are getting one or more error messages like; 501, 502, 503--refered to as "Hard or Soft bounce". The usual source of failed mailing is that many ISPs mail server have requirements for outgoing (From:) or return (Reply To:) email address, etc. Most of the time, bounced are due to your mail server identifying itself as an internal mail, for example: 127.0.0.1 or by using invalid email in the REPLY TO: or FROM: field, web-based email with no MX Records or the FROM: field email address being different from the login IP address, etc. Every ISP's have their own standards and ways to bounce and filter spam--if your mails consistently fails, the underlying factors could be serious, like: black-listed email domain due to yours or your ISPs mail server being an "Open Relay", etc. Undeliverable or bounced mails are not necessarily invalid--why did mail servers bounce them in the first place? There are many cases where customers had reconfirmed that their emails are valid, yet they were bounced. Most bounced can be avoided--for full info about bounced and how to overcome it... visit: http://www.bouncemailmanager.com Inspired by necessity BounceMail Manager is designed for maximum flexibility for managing bounced--the ultimate tool for consistent removal of bounced email addresses without compromising valid customers' database. Q? At
the "real-time" log, what's the meaning of: A. Attempt:1 or 2 or 3 -- Means that; while in session with the mail server for message 345--it got disconnected and the program makes Attempt: 2 to continue the session. Upon Attempt: 3 and fails, it will move-on to the next 346th mail and again if it fails--it will attempt to reconnect to the mail server and display a log message: Connecting to mail server--the above process is repeated (and if still unable to connect, it move-on to the next account) and if the connection is successful and the same problem persists--it make the same 3 attempts and again if it fails (total of 6 attempts), the program will skip the mail server and move-on to the next account.... If the next account is also having the same problem usually these problem occurs when the mail server is busy, down, line-drop, network congestion etc.--the program will again repeat the above (6 attempts) process and move-on to the next account and so on--therefore, you will get to see quite a lot of error attempt: on the log file. Read me: If you are having different mail account and if they are all using the same mail server email domain--the program will not be able to connect to all of them, if that particular email domain mail server is down or busy. Notes: Successfully retrieved bounced are not recorded into the log file, only errors or unsuccessful attempts.

POP3 or Post Office Protocol Version
3 is a standard Internet client-server protocol for retrieving Internet
mails by an email client--ie: Eudora
Mail or Outlook Express etc. communicating with the mail server via port
110 by sending a login UserID,
password to authenticate the session, retrieve and delete mails from the
mailbox. The Conversation

| Content-Type:
header is only used
with MIME messages--to declare the general type of data and the
subtype specifies a format for that type of data. For example:
Content-Type: of "text/plain"--inform the user agent that the data is
in plain text format. The optional “charset” parameter tells the mail
reader that the message is intended to be displayed with the
"iso-8859-1" character set.
|
| Content-Transfer-Encoding:
header is only
used with MIME messages to specify an auxiliary encoding that was
applied to the data, so that it is allowed to be to pass through the
mail transport mechanisms--which may have data or character set
limitations. |
| Custom Headers (X-* Type):
headers with
an “X-“ are added by the program that created the message and can be
read by a mail reader, therefore, any special format specification or
information contains in the message—can be taken advantage of—and
ignored, if it is not recognized by a mail reader.
|
| X-Priority:
custom header is quite popular but different mail readers may
interpret it differently or not at all. For example: usually most mail
readers set or interpret "4"=low "3"=normal and "1"=high.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol); for sending and receiving email messages
POP3 (Post Office Protocol Version 3); for delivering and retrieving email messages to mail readers, example: MS Outlook, Eudora, etc.
